Smuggler’s Run review
Posted by @ 6:17 PM, EST
We added a review of Rockstar Game’s PS2 racer:

As a driver for a gang known as "The Forgotten", led by Gordon Temple, you'll receive your missions via radio transmission from Radio Girl (Yes, that's her name) and you must complete these missions as quickly as efficiently as possible. Some of the missions are simple pick-up and drop runs, while others pit you against rival gangs in a race to deliver a certain item, or sometimes just a flat out race to impress your boss. The multi-player modes offer all out turf wars against rival gangs, and there is a variety of other multi-player modes, but they play mostly the same.

WhatEver...this game rocks! I have not had as much fun with a game like this since Excite Bike on the NES. This is what I want in an Off Road Raceing game. The only thing that this game is missing is some simple weapons al la vigilanty 8/Spy Hunter, you know...maybe a reverse fire rocket, smoke screen, oil slick... nothing too intense just a little extra help to thwart the efforts of the Po-Po...which are incredibly annoying at times.
No the graphics on the cars aren't the most spectactular I have ever seen, but that doesn't matter...the boards are huge, the resolution is high, the fram rate is fast, the physics are cool, and the draw distance is FAR...which to me equates to a fun off road experience.
Bottom line, If you like rompin...seriously ROMPIN, around in 4x4 vehichles then you will probably like this game. All in all this game is a teaser, an introduction of things to come if you will...I will.
Hopefully RockStar will take what it has done here to the next level. Honestly, I play this game more than DOA2 or Armored Core 2, which are the only other games I have right now. Five stars in my book.
