PS2 News Bits + Interview
Posted by @ 7:29 AM, EST
Core slapped up some cool info plus they kicked up an interview with Tecmo.
A bit of the stuff:

"From Software spoke out this morning regarding their decision to switch Evergrace from the PlayStation to PS2. The decision, according to company representatives, was due to the 'PlayStation2's expression capabilities, and the ability to strengthen the game graphically.' Company officials reaffirmed that the game is slated for release in Spring 2000."

Here are a few lines from the interview:
"Core Magazine: Before we discuss Kunai, I'd like to talk briefly about Dead or Alive 2. In particular, a Dreamcast version has been confirmed, will there be a PlayStation2 version also?

Isomine-san: So far we've announced the Dreamcast version, which will be released in America next year. Thus far, we haven't decided if the Dreamcast version will be released in Japan. We'd like to release a PlayStation2 version since the machine is so attractive, but we haven't begun work on such a version.

CM: In terms of programming and considering you're just beginning to program for the PlayStation2, do you feel it's harder or easier than other consoles?

Isomine-san: There's definitely some difficulty in developing for the PS2.

Nagai-san: Yeah, but since we're not real programmers perhaps we shouldn't comment on that aspect. There is one thing I've found involved character creation though. For example when I create a character, the calculations with curves is faster than one with simple polygons. So in that sense, there are minor differences and perhaps difficulties in developing. Basically, all our programmers and CG designers have had to slightly change their developmental approach in order to optimize the PS2 capabilities."
