Higher PS2 sales expected at launch
Posted by @ 3:32 PM, EST
The investment firm of Warburg Dillon Read stated a few days ago that "Originally, Sony expected to sell 1 million PS2 units during the first week of release. We now believe that Sony plans to sell 1 million units in the first day and as many as 3M PS2 units in the first week. This bodes well for MIPS. We estimate that initially MIPS will receive up to $1 in royalties per unit from PS2." While the firm of Robertson Stephens says that "we expect about 1 million to be sold on the first day and 3 million units in the first week, and the company gets roughly $0.75-1/box."
Thanks to Gaming-Age for the info.
