Namco Talks PS2
Posted by @ 12:28 PM, EST
Core slapped up a fat interview with Namco.
A few slices:

"Question: What was your first impression of the PlayStation2 in terms of development?

Harima/Mizushima: We thought it was truly profound hardware. Programmers will be exploited with the PlayStation2 since the system has so much potential.

Saida: I was initially shocked at the number of polygons it was capable of handling. I'm gradually beginning to realize that the PlayStation2 is a system where you can create almost anything you want. At first we approached the system with an 'uncertain of what can be done' attitude. Now that's changed to 'anything can be done on the PlayStation2.'

Question: Have you encountered any serious problems in developing for the PlayStation2 so far?

Harima/Mizushima: The experience of programming for the PlayStation2 isn't there yet. As we progress we're discussing development and programming with other PlayStation2 teams.

Saida: I think the only serious problem is the lack of time available. We want to do so much, but there just isn't enough time. In that sense, it's sad to be a game director. Fundamentally you want to complete everything in a short period of time, but you're always trying to get the best results."
