Sony comments on PS2 online strategy
Posted by @ 1:04 PM, EST
Found an interesting little article over at Gaming Age.
Here’s a bit:

"In response to a question on how the PS2 fits into its net business, this was Sony's answer. The PC is a general machine with a long history. PS2 is new, and PS2 is in effect, a computer. Vaio (Sony's line of PC's) is a device to connect to networks with a narrow band, while PS2 will connect with a wide band. We expect both to maintain their individual applications and distinctive uses.

What does this mean for gamers? It may mean that if you don't have a cable modem or DSL line, you are out of luck if you want to get online with a PS2. While in theory you could hook up a traditional USB dial up modem to the PS2, it does not look like Sony has any plans as of now to support such connections."
