Some PSX games may not work on the PS2

Interesting info from Bloomberg News:
"Some old software may not work for PlayStation 2," said Kenichi Fukunaga, a director of Sony Computer Entertainment, a unit of Sony that makes the Walkman portable stereo.
Sony Computer isn't sure why some old games may have problems on the new console, Fukunaga said, though if the software wasn't written to Sony's standards, that may be the cause of the trouble. It's not clear how many games may be affected, he said, though most of the more than 3,000 titles made for the game player won't have a problem."

Comment: well, better there are any old games that work on the ps2. i think this feature should be used for "a glimpse of da capo" and nothing more. it was a good idea and it was sure a lot of work to get that feature, but that there wouldnt be any weaknesses...well i just want to thank sony for that feature at all...

Comment: I think i was having a fit of loyalty and some bias was showing.
I guess this is new news, I just thought is was already well known that there was this coding standard problem. It was just wierd seeing all these sites jump on this story like it was a big deal. My bad, I apologize for acting like a jerk.

Comment: Yes, this is old news . . . but from what I understand this is the first time that an actual Sony representative confirmed it.
In that regard, it is new news . . . it is confirmation of a rumor.

Comment: let me just add dailyradar.com has said this for months now, this is not new news, some of the web pages out there think this is new news. not that i like dailyradar.com, but it's been known there for a long time that it always play _most_ ps1 games
