SimTheme Park on PS2
Posted by @ 7:33 AM, EDT
More EA games…
Here’s a bit of the pressrelease:

Electronic Arts announces that it will be bringing its popular SimTheme Park franchise to the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system. Using the power of the PlayStation 2 console, SimTheme Park takes a massive stride forward with high-resolution graphics that will truly bring the theme parks gamers create to life. SimTheme Park will take advantage of the more sophisticated technological capabilities of Sony's new console system and allow players to build (and ride) bloodcurdling five-loop roller coasters in the most realistic way. Players will still be able to control every aspect of the parks they build, from the rides, to how much salt gets put on the French fries at the concession stand to chucking out troublemakers. But with the increased processing power and memory of the PlayStation 2, a larger number of customers will be able to visit the theme parks players create, each with their own individual personalities - complete with likes and dislikes.

I dont think Ferrari F355 Challenge will be an arcade perfect conversion to the DC.The Arcade version uses 3 Naomi boards while DC has the power of only one Naomi board.

DCman:This is just the beginning. There are more games ready for the E3 show. This was just a sample.Sega will have a nice appearance but LOOK!PS2 has many quality titles that rock.People wanted AAA PS2 titles.Well here they are.
Many DC titles arent mindblowing.
Power Stone 2
Eternal Arcadia
10 Six(looks like a PSX1 title)
Samba De Amigo
Typing of the Dead (Just House of the dead with the keyboard)
Virtua Tennis
Space Channel 5
Red Dog
Take the Bullet(Looks like a mega drive title compared to PS2's Tommorow never Dies)

See?DC doesnt have many AAA titles. They say DC has many AAA tiltles(something that DC prooved at the Tokyo games show). It had.Now it hasnt. The same was happening with the Saturn.First a big number of quality games and then many crap games.
To be honest some of its titles really rock.Sonic2,Ecco,Ferrary are fine examples.

If I want a PC game I buy it, and I buy it for the PC. We don't need a PSX2 for that!
But, we've got a PC , but not everyone has a
(high-end) PC.

If it's a great game then why should it matter if it's a PC/Sega/Nintendo/X-Box/C64/Atari2600 etc port. As long as the gameplay survives the transition then all is good.

All ranting aside, what this game needs is for you to be able to walk around your own park that you've just created. Then you could punch the mascots and chat up the bearded lady.

Also, just had a brainwave (ouch)...

How about being able to buy a building called the Performance Stage or something and having different real world acts doing an animated performance on it. Then each week the EA website distributes a new set of files that contains the performance of a different band, comedian, or other type of performer. You could have Sporty Spice singing American Pie one week and the next week you could have Luke Perry being shot out of a cannon, surely a revolutionary advancement for gaming.

I don't need (or want) to see PC ports to the PS2. I know the game will be updated but I'm sure it will be for the PC too.
