Gamers.com posted some details about Sony’s PS2 marketing campaign.
Here’s a bit:

Full print support begins in October and ads will of course be in the gaming enthusiast press (they already are), along with such publications as Maxim, Playboy, FHM, Gear, Entertainment Weekly, Spin, Vibe, Source, Shift, Wired, Yahoo!, Blackbook, Detour and the Manhattan File.
