PSX Nation posted an interview with SCE President Kaz Hirai:

J.M.: The reputation that, in the industry is perceived, is that Sony compared with Sega and Nintendo has the lesser of the internal studio developers. Why is there no other game from Sony besides "Fantavision" (available for launch)?

Kaz Hirai: We have a lot of PlayStation 2 games in development - in our internal studios, obviously. But we felt that it's more important for us to make sure that we have a game that we're satisfied with in terms of the gameplay, in terms of the quality, before we bring it out to market. And if that means that we can't bring it out on day one, and it's going to come out, say in November or December, then we feel that's more appropriate a strategy than bringing out a game that we're not fully confident that is complete. And also the fact that we have 26 titles at launch really is a testament to the support that we've been getting from out third-party publishing partners. Especially when you consider that 25 of the 26 are from third-parties.
