Hideo Kojima interview
Posted by @ 5:00 PM, EST
Core had a chat with Konami’s Hideo Kojima, talking about MGS2.
A slice:

CoreMagazine.com: In some of the earlier footage released, we see soldiers attack Snake behind shields. In order to defeat them, Snake switches to first-person mode and aims at their kneecaps. How often will players need to utilize the first-person mode?

Kojima: There are parts where it will be preferable to use this view, but for the most part it's up to the player. Those who want to just play the game like a shooter can use the automatic lock-on feature, but in this case Snake will only target the enemies' torsos. Using the first-person view lets the player aim for specific body regions.

the old Metal Gear Solid one contain the weapon Nikita which I use to beat sniper wolf instead of the psg1. I hope there would be a weapon like that again. It's phat to spy like that. One idea that I come up with is a spy miniature plane that is so small that the enemy could not see it.... It's kind of a spy plane to see the other side of the sector if it's safe,. Now the enemy would not see it because it's too small unlike the nikita this will only be use to spy. but it's more mobile. than the nikita which can only fly at a given distance. I hope you addd this to your game and you might want to expand the way snake obtain his weapons also his vest what happen to it. He looks cooler on mgs1 now he can easily be spotted.
Can you like expand his weapons you know like levelling up his weapon every level.......

that's it and I hope Kojima read this soon a fan

This game's going to be incredible. Too bad it's so restricted by the lame PS2 Vram and such. All the textures look alike. Maybe the X-Box version will be better.

The rolling demo i saw of this game made it look like there was a lot of combat - more than in the previous version. I hope the stealth aspect of the game has survived!
