PlayStation 2 Net-Z Unveiled

Proksim Software has begun exhibiting a PlayStation2 version of their networking engine for multiplayer online games, Net-Z, at the Game Developers Conference. Built upon Proksim's patent-pending, cell-based Duplicated Objects technology, Net-Z includes a number of features for increasing the overall performance of a networked game, including advanced data extrapolation and anticipation techniques for optimizing the use of bandwidth, by sending less data over the network. Net-Z also provides game developers with tools for effectively combating the effects of latency, a prime cause of slower play on the Internet.
