TGS 2001 MGS 2 new demo
Posted by @ 12:19 PM, EDT
GS U.K. also reports aboutt he new footage and usable items in the newer version of MGS2, i wish we got this one with Z.O.E.:

"Another of Snake's toys that we haven't witnessed before is a torch which, unsurprisingly, is used to find your way around dimly lit corridors and the like. The real-time lighting is, of course, excellent but it's the torch's effect on the gameplay that could prove to be something a bit special. We've yet to get this confirmed by Konami but it seems logical to us that if Snake's enemies are able to spot your shadow when you might think you're safely hidden round a corner, the same should be true of the light coming out of the torch. This could make for some really challenging gameplay in darkened areas, and since Hideo Kojima already has ice cubes that melt, bottles that smash and bags of flour that pour out their contents when shot in his game, it seems inconceivable that he won't have thought of this. One such area might be the dimly lit corridor that appears in this demo for the first time, although Snake has already been spotted by a group of Russians at this point meaning that his new torch has pretty much been made redundant. Snake instead opts for another toy we've not previously seen him wielding on the PS2 - a machine gun. This isn't likely to be your weapon of choice if you're in stealth mode but if you've already been spotted it's as deadly as it is noisy and could prove especially useful if things are getting a little crowded. The effect of the machine gun in the dimly lit corridor is similar to that of a strobe light, and things get even more disco-like once Snake's enemies start to return fire with machine guns of their own."
