Where are all the Keyboard & Mouse supported PS2 games?
Posted by @ 11:55 AM, EDT
DR wrote an article on the lack of key board and mouse supported games for the PS2, and why there should be more:
"When the PS2 was announced with standard USB connections, we knew that our days of awkward strafing and no "free look" were over. Unfortunately, things haven't turned out the way we'd hoped. Some games have supported the mouse and keyboard, but some games have not. To find out more, we talked to developers behind some past and future PS2 shooters to uncover a dirty little secret in our industry."Full article

I think alot more K&M compatibility is a must after all thats why its got the usb ports. For example I dont care wot anyone says playing a flight sim or a robot fighting simulator with a controller sucks. and after all Sony have made this to be a home entertainment system & when broadband internet catches on no doubt it'll be used for e-mails. no I know people are saying its not a PC, yeh and thank god! I hate PC's I cant think of anything better than a machine I dont have to upgrade the memory evertime I buy a new game & dont talk to me about crashing. |

I love it when you guys sit there and act like K & M is a bad thing. Yah, i understand its a console, but all a K & B will do is make games better....especially FPSs. The thing is, all the games that would allow K & M is SUPPORT ONLY. Do we all know what the means? That means that you have the choice to use EITHER the controller or the K & M. Another thing is anyone that is half good with a K & M will be able to destroy someone that is using a controller.... |

i know what your trying to say, but i never said that i didn't like the hand held controller, to have K & M would be great, but the hand held controller is fine, what i mean by K & M is that you have that freedom looking around and turning you get with K & M, you dont get that feeling with a controller, it more of an awkward feeling. |

I'm shocked. I actually stopped to read this article because I couldn't believe what I was seeing. You guys actually WANT to use a keyboard and mouse when you can use a proper controller!? How many fingers do you guys have on your left hands? With Unreal Tournament and Quake III Revolution, we finally have quality first person shooters that weren't designed so you need to put up with that mouse and keyboard garbage. Hey, if you guys like that interface, that's up to you. But, I can't imagine what you're thinking. |

of course the PS2 is a console, giving it K & M compatability is a pluse, its not trying to make a a PC, they are giving the gamer an advantige no other console has allowed, the use of K & M in games, some games are much more comfertable with a K & M than with a controller, it makes it way easier to move and look around, it makes it easier period. and a grip of people will say the same thing. |

What is wrong with all u people? You are trying to turn the PS2 into A PC, which is not what it is. ITS A GAMES CONSOLE, and thats how the wizardry piece of machinery should stay. |

I kow Unreal Tournament has support but can you plug any usb mouse in? what about a intellieye microsoft mouse? or do you have to have sony keyboard and mouse compatable with the ps2? Also I really wish quake 3 would have had usb support, it would make the game a lot better, only because I am so used to playing it on a PC. -Mike |
