Gauntlet: Dark Legacy impressions
Posted by @ 5:47 PM, EDT
The lads over at Gamespot UK posted first impressions of the PS2 version of the arcade classic Gauntlet: Dark Legacy.
Here’s a slice:

At the beginning of the game you have eight character types to choose from, each possessing the usual array of strengths or weaknesses. The Warrior, for example, will be very strong physically but will have weak magic, the opposite of the Sorceress or Wizard. Additionally, each character type has four incarnations, allowing you to select the appearance of your chosen one, and later in the game we are told there will be an additional eight playable characters. Once you have chosen and named your representative, you then begin your quest.

Your mission is to gather the Runestones that were used to banish the evil demon Skorne, villain of the Dreamcast title Gauntlet Legend. The magical stones were stolen by the mage Garm, who used them to set Skorne free. Skorne and his creatures are now on the loose, and it is your character's job to find the stones and banish him once again. The game is set across eight different realms, each with its own powerful guardian that your character must defeat.

I have just picked up a copy of Gauntlet, not bad I still remember the idea from my comodore 64 days with friends playing this. The overall gameplay is not too bad. If you're a gauntlet fan might as well give it a try
