I personally think their real, and the PS2 can handle that game easily. The problem is... When big developers like EA and Square are putting out stuff that dosen't look near as good because of programming/financing difficulties.. how can Soho Studios? I know their a Sony developer.. but still.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I noticed that the people are PS2 quality, and when I typed the first message, I stopped and went back and studied the pictures, that's why I changed my mind. It's a fine looking game.

Holy Lord that game looks gorgeous.

I'm definitely impressed if those graphics are coming off a PS2.

My question is this: What time of game is that from?

Either way, if that's the way graphics are finally headed, I'm definitely thrilled.

I don't doubt that these come from the PS2. What I do doubt however is the cleanness and smoothness of the graphics. That's not capable on the PS2.

As good as those shots are they still won't look as good as the acual game it's self. Most screen shots are in JPEG format which compresses the picture and in the process it looses a little quality. That means that the acual game could look better!
No screen shot does any game justice.

I thought this was a post about Brittney Spears?

I heard about these pics. I think they are real game cars over live backgrounds. But I'm not 100% positive.

Strange resolution on those pics. 600x(378-389). That is slightly wider than 16x9.

Those look like renders to me. The PS2 can do that many polygons and should be able to do textures near or at that level but these screens are cleaner than any game I've ever seen at normal TV resolutions (which, of course, the pictures aren't).

Not real. Why? Because not one single jaggie on any of those pics. Considering that every single PS2 game, and some DC games have jaggies to a certain degree, these pics not having any jaggies whatsoever makes me think they are not real.

Perhaps it's beacuse the Jaggie issue was overblown by the media?

Now for a biased persons perspective: I think they are real simply because I have seen many FMV's that are of much higher quality of this. But that jaggie thing is weird. Every picture I have seen shows the PS2's jaggies (notice I said pic and not movie), this is a pic and yet no jaggies. "Whats the deal with no jaggies? I mean come on!"*

Why are we caring about graphics so much? What will this game be worth if the cars handle like a piece of shit or if the enemy AI sucks? I can be playing a game with true lifelike graphics and not give a damn because if its not enjoyable whats the point.

They aren't real, you're all dimwits!! Coz it's a freakin VIDEOGAME!!

Just joking, don't put the flame thrower on me guys.

I think Blain has a very good question, there should be some amount of jaggies in it coz it something that all current consoles can't totally eliminates.

Even if it's "real"(as in real-time rendered), I suspect it could be a special developer rigged version running in hi-res on a monitor instead of a TV.

But the quality of the graphics itself looks like perfectly capable to be reproduced on the PS2.

btw, have u guys seen that PS2 Ferrari game movies? The lightning in that game actually looks BETTER than the Getaway shots above!

I've seen these pics a million times and they look nice.. nice? Noo, that was an understatement

I've seen the Ferrari movies, and yes the lighting was pretty awesome, I never would've thought I'd be so impressed by light shimmering off a chrome wheel

FOR ANY OF YOU THAT BELIEVE THAT THOSE PICS ARE PS2 QUALITY, then you might as well fly to the moon!!!!!!!!!!

now i know most of you intelligent people, understand that those pics are a bunch of belony.

But for those whom don't Give me a break, you must have to be totally brain washed by sony to fall for that shit.

I'm betting not even the all mighty powerful xbox can push that many polys.(maybe after the developers learn to use Bill Gates lovely mini Pc-console).

But aside question, that would be awesome if we had a game that looked like that, with no jaggies while in game.

I think the reason why we (yes, including me) are doubtful is because the game comes from a Joe Schmoe Company somewhere in Europe where nobody but them lives. If it would have come from, say Square, MAYBE then it would be more believable. But no, it comes from some developer that nobody knows, and it is hard for us to believe that such a company would make a game with higher graphical quality than the ones from the top dogs. Hey, let's face it. I didn't know what the hell Polyphony Digital was until GT, so it might as well be that they came up with a formula that the others don't have...It's just that...They look so round, so...smooth and shiny, and...W, Whait...what were we talking about?

Grrrr.....How many times do i have to say this.

Its the small "joe schmo" developers who you have to watch out for. Noone know who the hell valve was untill they released their first game. And well, it sort of revolutionized the industry. You know....Half Life. How about Verant? Or Black Isle? Even Blizzard fell into this category at one poit and time. The small developers often have the most freedom to implement a quality gaming concept without interferance from suits. The often have the best talent because they are founded by gamers and everyone who works for them are gamers. Dont discount them because they are small. Be excited because you've never heard of them before.

Anyway....back to the topic.

In game? No, definitely not

Real time on the PS2 hardware? Yea, i think so, i dont have any problem believing that the PS2 is capable of this. Still have to wait to see how the game plays or even looks in motion tho.

i sent an email to studio soho and they informed me that although those pics were taken on a high resolution workstation monitor, that they are indeed realtime replay shots from the in-games graphics engine...whats more is that they informed me that the game is running at 60 fps with fsaa yes u read correctly and is using 1/3 of the ps2 graphical power...untapped resources... u betcha!!!

Holy SHIT rog. You have got to be kidding me. 60fps, FSAA, and at only 1/3 the power of the PS2. Post the e-mail man. This could be the greatest news i've heard in a long time.
