![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Why do you think the PS2 launch sucks? I think it's actually better than the DC launch at this point. If I were getting one at launch I'd get Timesplitters, SSX, Dynasty Warriors2, Silpheed, and RR5. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'd rather save up my money for launch since the Dreamcast will be recieving ALL my gaming dollars this year! Plus, I won't buy any system for just one game. Oh yeah, and another thing...broadband out of the box. Three pretty good reasons, don't ya think? ------------------ |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Well, if you wanted broadband you could always play PC games. Besides, none of those games you mentioned will be online anyway ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hey Dojo?, I said "broadband out of the box..." My computer didn't come with an ethernet adapter, I have to buy it seperately. I said nothing about playing online games on my Xbox next year, I just like having an option without having to buy an option like you have to with the PS2. Don't get offended just because I don't want to buy a PS2. I'd hate to buy something I'd end up trading back in next year anyways. ------------------ |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() They gave me an ethernet adapter for free when I signed up for DSL. And if you look at the prices , you will see that you can get one for your PC for about $10. I don't know why you would trade in your PS2 after a year, that will be when the best games are coming out. So you would buy an X-box because it comes with a free ethernet adpter, but you wouldn't buy a PS2 for all of the great games coming out in the next year? That's pretty funny. btw, I just got Dynasty Warriors 2 this weekend. HOLY S*** |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and guess what....you'll be paying 30-40 bucks a month for broadband by the time the Xbox comes out (how else you gonna use the ethernet adapter card? Gotta pay someone to use it) |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hehe, since this thread has already sort of developed into an arguement, I'm going to go ahead and say this: Why wait for a PS2 when you can get a DC now? Why justify your system with MGS2 which comes out in a year when you can get Shenmue in November? Clearly, the answer is that you like what PS2 has to offer now. And The Reverend likes what X-Box has to offer so far. That's why he's waiting. And personally...I'll stick with my DC for now, SEGANet and a lot of cool games are coming. Plus I have a few PC games I want to look into... *cough*Tribes2*cough* If by next year Dolphin and X-Box have nothing that will get me interested, I'll probably buy a PS2. That way, I can get the really good games for it and most likely pay a lower price. -Zenogias |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Tekken 4 coming to the Xbox? So you're a Tekken fan huh? I don't think it will, but if it does, I will definitely get a Xbox (I pretty much go where ever Tekken goes ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I don't want to argue, but I don't understand why people who aren't interested in the PS2 are posting on a PS2 forum? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() That, and while Munch is coming to the X-Box, there is no indication of any other big games (exception of Halo) that isn't on the PS2. So why wait a year for a system that isn't out yet? DC? If you like the games on it, get that system now. PS2? At least we know more about the games that are on it. Unlike the X-Box with few confirmed games (Munch and Halo, yes however, what other games are confirmed for it? Don't give me wishlist games like Bouncer or MGS2. They maybe coming to the X-Box, but unless the company confirmes it, don't mention them.). ------------------ |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() quote: i don't quite understand your "philosophy" here...you'd rather save all your gaming dollars for DC but intend to skip a PS2 for Xbox because it has only one game you're intested in? i think all the games you mentioned (and wished to be on Xbox) will be on PS2..hmmm. If DC is all you are spending, why get an Xbox too? what is so special about Xbox? is it the broadband adapter? that's it!? like it was said, that will pretty much be a free item with DSL installation and will most likely be included with PS2's drive unit (uh oh,now you're going to talk about the lack of h-d in PS2,that may come free virtually [just guessing so don't get all jumpy anti-PS2 fanboys] with Sony's online service?). i do not get what you are saying... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This isn't ment to be an xbox thread, reverend you should not post this stuff in this forum, if you want to use a forum like that you can try Msxbox or another general topic forum on here. Its fine if you want to reply to someone putting down every other system other the PS2, but please try to keep the pro-xbox stuff down on this forum. Coolio? okay cool Now one thing that bugs me about the PS2 is how much you will have to buy that Sony does not give you inside the box. I mean first of all you have to buy a Multi-tap for 4 player use (Stupid), then you will have to buy an modem/ethernet with hard drive addon, again stupid. Not only that but you have to pay OVER 300.00 US dollars for the PS2 itself, I mean some stores are even going up higher than that and with tax it will be well over 300.00 and almost all the games look no better than the Dreamcast and even some are as bad as PC titles. The impressive titles won't be shipping for another year anyway. So you buy one this year and enjoy it for a 12 months with games like DC quality, until Nintendo and Microsoft come out with their consoles. In My Humble Opinion, the PS2 is a waste of good hard earned money (Yes I have a nice sucessful job okay, but I feel its a waste) |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() If you think PS2 graphics are no better than dreamcast then you are wrong. Try playing Dynasty Warriors 2 where there are about 30 characters on screen that all look Soul Calibur quality. Basicly even the earliest PS2 games are all better than anything that can be done on Dreamcast. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() quote: ok,maybe 4 ports on the console would of been better, but seriously paying for a multitap isn't that BIG of deal. launch games are already supporting it,so it's not like developer's won't use it,that's been answered right off. as for a modem,no problem, most of us will barely use such a device for multiplayer gaming, but what's to say you can't use existing (one you own) external pc modems for browsing? Sony may include a deal (free or rebate of sort) for it's hard-drive / ethernet card, who knows? $300 was the same cost for the PSX,it is not so out of range to buy,it surely isn't stopping the majority of buyers yet. i admit some games aren't up to par in Japan, but some are carry overs from PSX development and some were rushed for launch, but you cannot deny others are very good or you must be a total jaded gamer or one that dislikes console games. quote: don't be so quick to judge what you haven't seen and played, the U.S. launch is not here yet. what makes you think Nintendo and Xbox will have superior games against PS2 games at the time of their launch? quote: being humble is one thing, being biased is much more... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() From what I have read about the Dolphin/Star Cube whatever- is that they may come out with two differnt versions. One with Ethernet and DVD (More Expensive) and another without these options (Cheaper). I personaly don't care if the PS2 doesnt come with a hard drive or an Ethernet Card. If I decide in the future that I want to use these options I'll just go down and get them. I mean really, how many people here have gone down and bought a different paddle because they liked the color, or bought a different color case for there original PSX. Some of you may not have done this, but I am sure that some have. My point is this; if you really need the hard drive or Ethernet card then go buy it. Both will probably set you back 80-90 bucks total (Estimate, may be higher but we dont know yet.) I am more conserned with gameplay. They can give you all the free crap in the world, but if they dont have the games to back it up than your S.O.L. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() quote: I guess you don't have DSL or any computer with a high bandwidth connection, it makes all the difference in the world. You even have to pay for a memory card for the PS2, Sony really has a lot of suckers buying more hardware because you will need it. Playablity is one of the worst things for the PS2 right now. The Dreamcast games are much more playable and original, who wants NHL2001, or TTT when you can have the same thing and its called Tekken 3. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Why would you want to spend so much money for such a poor experience? I mean you would be spending over 600.00 for a console with mediocre games and Sony sticks it to you because you have to buy so much hardware that should be standard in the first place. It seems like to me its a Lose-Lose situation People are starting to see its not as great as it was cracked up to be. Sure its advanced but its too expensive and it will take another four years to get anything close to the abilities the PS2 has, and I am not talking about those inflated numbers (ummm lies) that sony said (ie 66 Million polygons, yeah maybe in a wet dream but not in reality). But lets face the facts now that the PS2 can't live up to the hype that it was given from Sony or anyone else. Its not a terrible machine by any means, but its just not the console industry stopper that Sony promised. Like I said before, I played some of the games at E3, and they look like graphical upgrades to PSX games, with the rest in movie clips. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Docwiz, your not even giving the PS2 a chance to prove itself! Nothing happens overnight for a new console, when the psx came out it too wasn't being pushed to the max. I just wish you would give the console time before you make coments like that! I guarante you over the next 12 months after the PS2 is launched, the games are going to be great, and the true power of the system will begin to show up with new games being developed! Give it time my friend, give it time ![]() ------------------ |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Actually I have a crappy Cable modem at the moment but it sclose enough to a DSL. I myself don't find online gaming to so important that I require a console to ship with all the components required to hook up. At least Sony is thinking Broadband and not 56K....hmm... that would be Segas thinking. Yeah, great that it shipped with it but what good is it. At least you have the option to go buy your 20 dollar NIC card for PS2 if you want to. And for the people who arent into the whole online gaming, I'm sure it doesnt matter. |
