Ok I would like to get a FPS for the PS2 at launch and I havent played one since doom on playstation (I apologize to all who are going to rip me for this)
So my question is this what would everyone reccomend timesplitters or unreal?
I am interested in everyones opinion.
Has the FPS evolved since doom other than graphically ?

I actually believe that ign has them both listed as confirmed launch titles. I'll check again though.
I mean both games look good but i was talking about people who played them on the pc, what their opinions are on the differences

Timesplitters. Unreal Tournament is only worth your time if you can play it online, which you can't right now.

i'm thinking since you've played Doom, you'll want the run and gun mayhem of UT,though i suspect Timesplitters will have plenty of that too,but it has not been released prior on pc's like UT,so you have to go by what you see in the movies and information given by the developers. if you want it more technical,i'd wait for Red Faction..? or on the other hand, wait for T.W.I.N.E or N.O.L.F.

Well if you want a cool single player adventure with an actual story the get Time Splitter which runs at 60fps. Or if you're intrested in run,gun and have fun the get Unreal Tournament but I hightly doubt it'd be as fun as Time Splitters but that's only my opinion and one more thing remember Time Splitters was optimized for the PS2 to take full advantage of it's hardware while UT is a port in which they claim they're having issues with. So there you have it in a nutshell. A port or a shining example of what you paid $300+ for...

actually, Timesplitters doesnt really have a story, its based on multiplayer, so you start off with 9 multiplayer levels, then the single plsyer levels with the 'storyline' start to open up, the game isnt actually based aroun the storyline they just added that to help with the longevity, and that would be why the storyline is so corny, and cartoonish

DUde making your own levels is one of the best reasons to get the game. The level designer is supposed to be extremly cool.

After you've played the game for a year you can still make new levels to goof with.

Jumpman, that is the most stupid thing you've ever said dood, they include 18 levels already, which isnt really that much, but from what ive seen in the movies are very well designed and huge, but also have gone to the effort of including the most simple, easy to use level editor in FPS history.......and i forgot the rest of my arguement

were you just trying to start a flame war with that comment?

.......bah, nevermind, you were being sarcastic

I would expect UT to be online, especially if sony gets its network up and working Q1 2001

At Sony's Gamer's Day yesterday, the company announced that the PlayStation 2 will not come with any software or demos packed in with the console. Sony also revealed that there are no PS2 titles in development yet that will use a broadband network, saying that the infrastruction for the network must be in place before game development can begin. The PlayStation 2's broadband network is scheduled for launch in the fall of 2001.

Not putting the game down but huge levels is not necessarily good when it comes to multiplayer...

Are you sure about that JamesSchmalz? Last I heard was that it didn't have split screen, only I-link. Could you post a link to confirm what you said?

I will be getting Timesplitters. I have always loved making levels for FPS games like Doom, Doom 2, Quake, and Quake 2(THE BEST FPS EVER!!!), so I am really looking forward to this feature!

Yes,the PC demo
In the last mission of the demo you have to jump out of a plane. Then you go down freefalin- chasing another guy for his parachute. All that with some other guys behind you trying to shoot you down.Just like 007,it was fun.
