I was just wondering. Does anyone know if the PS2 will be able to play VCDs. I really doubt it will. Was it able to play them on the Jap version?

When I asked this question everyone on the board said no. A vcd is a movie that is on cd format.

How is it plain and simple? All of Sony's other DVD players play VCDs. Why wouldn't the PS2?

You're right it is not plain and simple. Permit to rephrase... The PS2 does not play VCD's!!!

If you have a DC you can watch vcd's using the Utopia boot disc. Pretty good quality too

I don't believe so.
But im sure in time a addon for ps2 will emerge.
