How many of you would like to see more 2D games on the PS2, instead of the 3D?

what, are you crazy? going back a dimension in gaming. the transition from 2d to 3d is analogous to the transition from black-and-white television to high-definition dolby surround sound hi-fi digital television. why live in a circle when you could play in a sphere?

I'd enjoy a DVD full of older 2D games graphically rehashed. In fact, I really enjoy 2d it has its advantages, and I really wouldn't mind seeing some 2d games for the ps2.

I`d like to see more 2D games like Castlevania/Abe/Ghouls/Metal Slug and all the 2D Arcade shooters. But there`s no big market for it,so it wont happen.

I'd love to see at least a few good 2d games. I think there is still a place for them in today's world.

I want another 2D Contra game. It would be cool if they made it look like MvsC2 does; 2D with 3D backgrounds.

I love 2d games, it's not just nostalgia, but they're great fun!

They do have advantages, including simpler control and more focus on action.

When you play in a 3d world, I'm sure you've all found it somewhat annoying to control the character. Sometimes they get stuck on things, or you miss a jump because you didn't judge the shadow right, or the camera sucks, or the collision detection is just plain crappy. 2d games eliminate these problems, except maybe collision detection. You only have to move in two directions, plus jump and shoot. Very simple, and in reality allows for more action onscreen. Games like vertical/horizontal shooters, Castlevania, Metal Slug, etc. all benefit from the 2d treatment. Although, a 3d game on a 2d track offers the same kind of gameplay, so I have no problem with that, like Strider 2, Klonoa, or Tomba!.

Some of the best games are 2D. Like CastleVania:SOTN or the Contra games. I'd love to see some new 2D games on Sony's powerhouse.
Strider 2 (and Strider) reminded me how bad I miss thoose old 2D games. Sure they may sound simple in their basic form. But they turned out to be the most addictive games. Games like CastleVania:Sotn was awesome in every form, including graphics. The Super Nes's Yoshi's island, was gorgeous for its time, and also very deep.

But like was said, there isn't a market for them. So 2D game releases are going to be far and few inbewteen.

I would never want to see a 2d game over a 3D game. But it does depend on the gameplay.

I think 2D kind of died with the arrival of PSX and N64. You won't see very many 2D games now on any sys.

The world is not 2D. I don't want 2D games either.
