quote:

The company's director of technology James "Spike" O'Reilly seems to second Dyack's opinions, and also touches on ease of use for potential Gamecube developers. "The entire design of the Gamecube hardware in general Nintendo has put so much thought and effort into making it an easy tool for developers to use, and very easy to realize your artistic vision on the actual platform," states O'Reilly. "I don't think a lot of developers are going to be able to realize the full power of the X-Box or PS2 without a substantial amount of work and as I result I think you'll see better games on those platforms late in their life. And you'll see better games earlier on in the life of the Cube."

While Microsoft has repeatedly stressed that it plans to release the most developer friendly and powerful console on the market, Dyack remains unconvinced. "Though we definitely haven't seen the final X-BOX specs, my guess is that it's going to suffer from the same problems that a typical PC does," he says. "I think there are going to be bottlenecks on the buses and the overall polygons that Microsoft is talking about just aren't real numbers."

And on PlayStation 2 he offers: "The PlayStation 2, from what we hear, is so inherently difficult to develop for and I think that the RAM limitations are going to really make it a problem."

Funny how they can say that not even coded a damn line for the PS2 or Xbox huh?

Think about this.. would you believe it if Naughty Dog (Now a Second party to Sony) said tomorrow that the GameCube is a bitch to develop for? What about 989studios.. Are they an authority on Xbox archetecture? Hell no.

This guy from Silicon Knights has about as much credibility when talking about other systems as Larry Flint has talking about being a moral citizen.

Where the heck did you get that conclusion from?

You're misinterpreting them.

All they're saying is that the NGC is easier to program for than the ps2 and Xbox, and that HE thinks that the Xbox will have problems similar to the pc.

He's saying that you'll see, "better games on those platforms late in their life. And you'll see better games earlier on in the life of the Cube."

He didn't say anything about not seeing great games on the ps2 and Xbox til the end of their life. Read it!

No, he's not bashing - just stating his opinions. He IS a Nintendo 2nd party, so you could expect that he'd promote Nintendo, too.

Full interview: http://cube.ign.com/news/25778.html

This looks like some problems for Sony and Microsoft. What this guy is saying" NGC is the easiest to develope for" is trouble for both of them.
(Edit)
Oops sorry,I already knew that NGC was the easiest to develope for...From what I've heard so far.

Hey toothpick! He is stating an opinion? How can someone formulate and opinion without coding for the them?

ProfessorX: Hey Tooth did you know that gamecube is very hard to code for and that you won't see great games until the end of the systems lifespan?

Tooth: How the hell would you know you don't make games for the GC! You don't even have the damn Hardware!

Tooth you can't form an opinion without being informed or you end up sounding like an ass! All this tells me is that he isn't smart enough to code on Xbox or PS2 or is just a lazy bastard!

Jumpman! If I tell you GC is hard to develop for does that mean GC is in trouble?

HELL NO! WHY....because I don't code for the damn thing! Very Simply....Silicon Knights doesn't code for either machine so how would they know..tell me?

ummm the truth????? All they had to say is that they don't know about xbox because they don't have a development kit or the hardware is not out yet. The UMA will not be out until early spring 2001. So they can't say jack either way... They should have said... Well we will just have to wait and see.

Nplayer...Has any MS second party made any negative statements concerning any other system? NO! Do you know why? That's because none of them are able to...they don't have the hardware and have never coded for PS2 or GC!

BUT Silicon Knights who :

1. Never has coded for PS2!

2. Never has coded for XBOX!

Makes ridiculous statements about things they have never had any experience in!

Better yet tell me why their statements about the PS2 and XBOX should have merit, how did they arrive at thier answer...from what experience do they know these two systems so well? Im waiting..........
