Well, this is sorta the bad side of my thoughts here, do you think the first batch of PS2's will have some sort of bug...? I surely hope not, but you never know...I mean I don't recall the Japs having any problem with there's except their mem. cards, anywho, I basically just want to hear from you guys of what you thought, and hopefully comfort my thoughts!

I doubt, and I certainly hope not. If there is, there will probably be some sort of update, like they did with the dreamcast. It's all good. I don't think you have to worry about major bugs though. ------------------ "Absence makes the heart grow fonder" :bounce:

Well knowing Sony and the quality of the PSX (talking to a man who went through 5) I am not expecting much and NOT being stupid enough to buy from the first batch. ------------------

Cuz I don't remember Sony issuing a Warranty Card for the PSX...did they...new news for me (been a long time since I bought a PSX!) Anywho, if it is FROM SONY, then how long is the warranty? Thanx alot ddaryl...you just made my day a lot easier with a "Warranty Card" Thanx...and reply soon

It shouldn't have any problems. Any problems that occured in the Japan launch have all ofcourse been worked out now. So we Americans can expect our PS2's to be alright.

It's true that the Japanese one really didn't have any major problems. But the American one is different inside, they took out a few things...

I think that is what you are getting at, anyway  thanx, a whole lot man...also I will be getting 2 PS2's come thurs. just went out and paid it off for full at KB Toys too...so one for my own room, and one for backup, or somewhere else I wanna put it yeah

I read they took out the ethernet port and the firewire port. So they can have that add on harddrive/modem. Oh course Im not 100% sure since I don't have the American system infront of me. But they definitely changed the system from the Japanese one... ------------------

posted 10-05-2000 11:10 AM ethernet port in the japaneze PS2? well.. if your talking about an ethernet/broadband/cable expanansion capability , then both JAP abd US PS2 will have it , as is confirmed by sony. i have naver heard of that firewire , personally i heard that the only difirence between the JAP and US PS2 are the EE will be designed based on a .18 fabrication process in the US released , which should reduce the cost of US PS2 compared to it's JAP cousin. i think the EE in JAP PS2 was designed on maybe .25 or something ... i'm not entirely sure..

You can always do what I did and you can buy one of those extended warranty deals that I am sure every retailer will pimp. Some people may call them rip offs, but for $45 at EB, if your system or controller breaks anytime within 2 years, take it back and you get it replaced with very little hassle. All you have to do is have your warranty slip on hand. True, $45 is almost another game, but EB has never done me wrong. Does anyone know if Sony's out-of-box warranty is 90 days or is it one-year like their PCs are??

posted 10-05-2000 11:10 AM Firewire is still there (i-link), Im unsure about the PCMCIA still being there, all I know is theres a reasonably sized bay for the HDD & Ethernet adapter. As far as I know, nothing else was touched. -bd
