i like what sony is doing , and this article exlpains exactly what i beleaves when sony accounces that only 500,000 PS2 will be released on Lunchday (which some thought was bad for sony , but it's just bad for hardcore gamers ) :

guys don't worry , the best games like GT3, Bouncer, FFX, FFXI, MGS2 are comming next year anyway.. so why be woried not getting a PS2 on launch? it's good for the future that PS2s sell well on chrismance... more imortant than launch day which is designed for hardcore gamers whom are already sold..

1) I live in Canada
2) I have tons of PSX rpgs to finish
3) My brother is getting a PS2 (lives in his own appt but often comes over)

Yes, you can live without it, but who doesn't want one @ launch?

Sony do this coz the software sales are killing them ...not many killer apps at the moment...if i were Sony boss ,launch games =GT3 priority one..

Funny how Sony is sneaky. If Microsoft did what sony is doing people would yell and say that they are using their monopoly powers and yell and scream about it.

You know, I've seen countless people compalin about Nitnendo's "shady" buisness practices of delaying games so teehy come out in a free space, artificaly creating shortages, holding back new hardware to get the most out of their currnet system and so forth, but when Sony does it's "good buisness". Personaly I take the stance that it is good buisness, and don't mind when any company does something of the sort, but a lot of people are kinda hipocritical.

Am I the only one who is going to wait for the first price drop? There are no games for PS2 that I absolutely have to have right now. I'll be content with my DC, 64, and PSX. There are so many games coming out I won't need a PS2. You know like Zelda, Shenmue, Driver 2....... Right guys? Right?

the launch games for PS2 aren't too badd actually , like TTT and ridge racer and the EA games. i gues it depends on what types of games are you looking for. for me i might survice without a PS2 until chrismance. but if i could get hold of one on a decent price i would not mind buying it . but porably it will be tooo expensive at firt over here.. ( as usual ) .

A toaster can plug into your washer/dryer/dish washer to enable two more controller slots. Just plut two more controllers into the toaster slots and you're all set.

BTW: You can hook up your microwave to your dishwasher as a high resolution solution.

here's something I've been thinking about.

What if Sony did launch with the million units, like they had stated previously?

You've got stores who are complaining they are getting 20-30 units, which won't meet the amount of pre-orders they have. Stores with 150-700 preorders for it.

What if the million units had come true? How many would stores have gotten then? Logical thought would be, about twice of what they are getting.

So, my thought is, even with the million, there still would have been a shortage. Yeah, its partly Sony's fault, because they should have been making systems for some months now, but, the retailers should have planned their preorder strategy better.(started later, only hold small amounts of preorders.)
