Here's the latest from Japan's Famitsu magazine, these are sales figures for consoles and console games. From these figures I'm not bashing PS2, I'm just clearing out some misinformation that I heard on this forum about PS2 outselling Dreamcast in Japan already, although I believe that soon that will be the case.
Also no PS2 game made the top five, but instead a DC game did. I guess the Japanese just wanted a cheap DVD player (Note: In Japan DVD players range from $500-$400 and PS2 was $350). They got a good deal nonetheless since their DVD player can also play videogames, which is neato. However, things should change once the AAA PS2 games come out. You can also blame poor sales on the Japanese market if you need a scapegoat. The Famitsu stats can be found HERE. Enjoy!!!

Real mature fastson. Sounds like denial to me. I wasn't bashing your system man, I was just notifying the forum members. Don't get worried, I heard Sony just can't make enough units to satisfy the Japanese market...oops, I'm sorry, I guess that's bad news for the U.S. and Europe! Sony's going to think of something though.

Sony can't sell all it's hardware in Japan right now because it will have to have some for the North American launch. Right now their facilities aren't running at maximum, in the fall they're planning on boosting production from 500,000 a month to 1.4 million a month. Then in spring time it will go up to 2.2 million. BTW,you don't have to have a game in the top five all the time to be the best console.

What that articles failed to mention is that the hardware numbers are as of March 31,00. It is now June 5 and the PS2 has sold well in excess of 2 million consoles.
Don't get me wrong Rev X...I could really care less, but I think it only fair that people know the facts.

uh, those software sales are for May 15-21.
Funny how you happen to pick the only week that there hasn't been a PS2 game in the top 5.
If you look at the chart from May 22-28 you notice that Fifa is at #2.

Don't get all defensive guys, I was just reporting what I saw on a neutral website. I wasn't attacking the PS2 and the production information are common knowledge to me. I guess the only question is: Can Sony meet those production numbers?
What do you think?

I think Sony will have a LOT of trouble manufacturing the PS2 for the remainder of 2000 for a few reasons:
- Demand right now, through the rest of the year is insane. They can't make enough to keep stores stocked right now.
- They are still have troubles getting their production run over 500K per month. If they don't get this fixed by Oct. 26th they are going to lose out on a lot of potential sales.
Heck of a problem to have eh?

BACKFLASH: The figures stating that PS2 has outsold DC ARE right. Reverend X just didn't mention that the Famitsu stats are based on actual sales, but doesn't take into consideration the preorders that people who plan to buy the PS2 have made, which is the basis of the affirmation that PS2 has beaten DC (which is right).
