Interview with Polyphony Digital
Posted by @ 1:11 PM, EST
Core smacked up a nice interview with the developer of Gran Turismo, Polyphony Digital.
Here’s a bit:

Question: So will the unfinished elements from GT2 be incorporated into GT 2000 for the PlayStation2?

Yamauchi-san: Right, that's what we're thinking about now. Each sequel in the Gran Turismo series ends up drastically different from what we originally envisioned, it's a miracle we ever finished them. I always try to brainstorm and come up with ideas for new features way in advance. That's what we're doing now with GT 2000, making sure we incorporate all the elements just right.

Question: How do you plan to show the evolution from GT2 - GT 2000?

Yamauchi-san: There's a big change in terms of rules. We're leaving many of the basics the same, and elements which we consider fun. However, there's a sleek new way to race in GT 2000. It will take more development time before I can show you concretely.

Comment: Gran Torismo is my favourite game over all other racers out there. I have bothe GT1 and GT2 in my collection, and I can't wait for the New Zealand release of PS2 so I can also buy GT2000. The future is looking bright for Polyphony - and indeed, Playstation2. I look forward to seeing much more of Granny Turismo in the future. I recently read rumours that Sony are already talking about PS3 and how powerful it will be! Blimy! For now though, let's just look at what we have now and marval at it's style and power of what will no doutd become yet onother world-wide phenomenon. With a 70% share in the console industry, who can argue?
