Tekken Tag Tournament impressions
Posted by @ 5:07 PM, EST
Core posted some impressions of Namco’s TTT.
Here’s a bit:

At first glance, it's clear that Tekken Tag Tournament possesses many of the spectacular elements that grace the arcade version, particularly visually. Background environments appear very crisp and detailed, and certain finishing touches such as realistic sky/cloud textures help add realism to the whole package. The different environments are all pretty varied, just like with the arcade version. Levels range from flame-spewing temples with marble/stone floors to grassy fields

How can you think of skipping this one? Download the movies from Daily Radar and I almost guarantee you it will change your mind. Sure you can't interact with the 3D backgrounds, but you never could with the TTT arcade anyway, and this is supposed to be a port of the arcade version, plus I wouldn't want to be sidestepping Paul's deathfist only to bump into some stupid car or onlooker and thus end up flat on my back, interaction is great, but it can interfere with a game such as this. I still don't think any other 3d fighting game can better Tekken, and yes I do have DOA2, but it looks noticeably plainer, those TTT movies simply put it to shame- maybe it's cause it doesn't have the little sparks when your hits connect like in Tekken, I don't know, it's the little things like that that do it for me.

Just thought I'd share a few of my thoughts: I don't know guys, I'm thinking of skipping this one. I already own T3 for the PSX, and I really don't care about a graphical update and not much else. Yea, the tag is cool, but I already have that with DOA2 for my DC. ReDXIII, yes the backgrounds may constructed in 3-d, but can you interact with them? From what I've heard, nope! I mean, come on Namco....Virtua Fighter 3tb on the DC had true interactive 3-d backgrounds and it was one of the first titles! Now DOA2 is out among others, TTT has lost my interest. Sorry Namco, I was just expecting more. Maybe T4. BRING ON MGS for PS2, Konami!!

Nothing is perfect. Look at the original Street Fighter 2 the everybody loved. The characters were all flat and so was the background. Who cares if its a little rough around the edges? It is still going to be an instant hit.

I think TTT looks awesome, why does everyone expect so much, its a 128bit system like the dreamcast.. and it looks way alot better then the DC.The backgrounds are 3d not flat 2d textures..
Jagged edges are not that noticeable. But it does give it a solid look, not like the blurry looks anti-aliasing can give. I think TTT looks superb. I cant wait till it comes out.

It's still Tekken Jag Tournament. However, that's just one bad thing. If you see the ground in Eddy Gordo's stage, you'll notice that it's not a flat texture, like those used in Soul Caliber, but a grassy ground.

Still, the Jagged Edges seem to be the negative end that many enemies of the PS2 would emphasize to be used against Sony's supposed "Supersystem."
