Sony faces difficulty in PS2 utility disc recall
Posted by @ 3:44 PM, EDT
A bit of an article from the Nihon Keizai Shimbun Thursday morning edition:

Producing a device that can play back DVDs sold in foreign countries is forbidden under an international agreement among makers of DVD players and movie companies because many films are released at different times around the world.

Sony Computer Entertainment decided to recall the software for 1.25 million units to fix the problem. Since April 1, it has been replacing the software by mail. "In three days we sent out over 1,000 memory cards containing the replacement start-up software," a company official said.

But the recall effort has been hindered by the large volume of machines shipped and the fact that some users welcome the "defect." It will be impossible for Sony Computer Entertainment to recall all the software, according to some electronics industry observers.

some users welcome the "defect", only some?
I sure like my Region1 DVD-player...

about the IP thing.
The guy I warned have posted tons of comments in different names. Posting shit about me, the PS2, the people here, the site, posted 50 comments in a row, you name it.
So after a few weeks of his shit I got pissed, gave him a warning. But he continued to post, so I mailed his admins about it. Then I posted what they told me here as a final warning to him.

Its going to be the best game ever made for the second time.
I think vOice reckognition is a great thing to add on MGS2.Imagine if you could actually talk to Otacon or Naomi Or Campel or... than just use the codec to communicate using predefined conversations.

In games you can "live" and experience a world.Something that can not be achieved with books mags etc.
But I understand what you are trying to say.the cut scenes were very long many times and even if you wanted to get into the action fast you had to watch the cut scenes otherwise you would miss the storyline. That was pretty annoying for many people.

Irvin, I understood all the messages. They're excellent points, I just don't believe that they belong in games. I play to get away, not to be preached to. Of course now I can skip the scenes, but the first time I wanted to understand what was going on and found myself getting bored and led astray every cut-scene. I appreciate what Hideo and his team tried to do....I just wish they'd put it on a seperate disc or something. You can read about Nuclear wars, spillage, powerful people, powerful corporations everywhere you turn nowadays, damn I'll pickup Newsweek. Do I play games for that? No.

P.S.- Gladiator looks freakin amazing! Yea Russell Crowe!!

Chaborf MGS had many cut scenes showing the stupidness of politicians and it has an antiwar meaning. This could only be achieved with cut scenes trying to give us the antiwar meaning. If you get deep into the meaning of the game you will find many elements from the real life were the strong ones are trying to be the ony ones standing.Especially the scene were gray fox dies.

No no, please NO LAURA CROFT! And to say that the new Metal Gear game will get "some" attention is a huge understatement. Just frikkin imagine what is possible with the power of PS2. The only thing I hope for out of this new MG is that it will not be so cinematic, also not so linear. MGS was great, however I got really tired of being preached to for 10 minutes about the dangers of Nuclear warfare and how the containment facilities are all leaking radioactive stuff all over the place. Does anyone agree with me? Still, can't wait.

Just imagine what Lara Croft will look like on PS2! Apart from that, the games we are going to see over the next few years will make your jaws drop. Game's like Konami's sequal to Metal Gear Solid should get some attention. Absolutly! And some top PC conversions are on the cards as well. I mean, ask yourself, what could be more exciting?

Sorry guys. I guess it's because I've been watching Austin Powers too much. About E3: I CAN'T WAIT!!! It's here that Sony will debut games that really show some of the power of the PS2. Don't forget, developers have said the PS2 has "limitless" graphics, so don't be discouraged by some of the titles around today. In a year (heck, by the US launch- just look at Munch's Odyssee) phenomenal playing and looking games will be the norm!!!

I'm sure that all the bugs will be taken care of by the time the u.s. version is released, and that Sony will be a lot more careful with product testing. I myself am realy looking forward to buying and playing my PS2. By the way tell that ferry Kituka to shut his pie hole!

Can you please stop with all your BSing posts here.
If your only gonna post trash then don't post at all.

I have been in contact with your admins at the University of Texas.

They told me:
___________________________________________
That address belongs to one of our two our web caches. All of our outgoing web traffic goes through these caches. In order to trace back to the IP address which originated the request, we'll need some extra help from you.
Our caches send a special HTTP header in each request called X-Forwarded-For. It gives the IP address of the host which originated the
request. For example, if I were to access your web site from my workstation, your server would see xxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx

Send all this
information to rather than to me directly.

So please stop posting all the crap here or I'll follow up on this and send the information to your admins.

napzard, get your fat ass up, pick up that ps2, and send the son of a bitch back to where it came from! possession of a recalled defective, microchip-containing electronic device is a felony offense, by international law.
