Kojima vs. Okamoto - Konami vs. Capcom Interview
Posted by @ 10:11 AM, EDT
Gamers.com posted a fat interview with Mr. Kojima and Mr. Okamoto.
Here’s a bit of the 3-part interview:

Interviewer: To understand what Mr. Okamoto is talking about concerning the next Biohazard, can you explain how you try to best utilize the high graphic capabilities of PS2. There seems to be a lot of trial and error going on as various creators try to figure out how to show the best graphics.

Kojima: This is kind of a severe topic. Everyone wants to do this. Everyone who creates a PS2 title looks at it and says, “Hmm…is this it? We need to do better graphics then this.” People want to pump out the graphics but are glancing over the other companies’ shoulders to see how they do it.

Okamoto: I look at chess, shogi and mahjong games out there and think, "You guys have it so easy!" I almost want to put one out ’cause it’s so easy. That’s it, the next game by me is a DVD mahjong game. I’ll even include porno.

Kojima: Porno mahjong! [laughs]

Okamoto: Yeah, Reiko Hayama will strip her clothes off.

Anonymus programers gave information to the press about the minimal RAM problem. They gave an answer to how to use the PS2 technology so the small RAM wouldnt be a problem.
We already had information about how the PS2 hardware works. From what I have read until now PS2 hardware working cycle is the best. When programers learn how to make the hardware work they way it was designed to people will realize the Ram is no problem. If The Getaway pics represent the real game at a high frame rate then this will be the first step which will also give an example to the other developers.
