International Superstar Soccer impressions

Gamespot UK posted some impressions of Konami’s PS2 soccer game ISS 2000.

A brand new feature for ISS 2000 is the oddly named Success Mode. I was expecting to this to be little more than the equivalent of the Survival Mode found in many beat 'em-up titles. Imagine my surprise when I discovered an RPG of sorts residing on the menu screen of my favourite footie game.

In Success Mode you play the role of a single footballer that you create, who starts out at a distinctly mediocre club with the goal of making it to the big leagues. You have conversations with coaches, fellow players and even your mum in-between matches and you even have to keep up a decent training regime if you want to stay on your boss' good side. The matches in this mode are initially played on pitches far less spectacular than you'll be used to and with far smaller crowds - the gameplay is no less exciting though.
