Namco interview
Posted by @ 12:39 PM, EDT
Core kicked up an interview with two members of Namco’s graphic design department talking about their PA2 RPG, Seven: Morumosu Cavalry.
Here’s a bit:

Question: What about the characters? Can you tell us about them?

Takahashi-san: At first we envisioned generic-style characters based on early background sketches from Mr. Kawaguchi. But when they progressed, I saw he was designing a completely unique world. Until now I've used the same style of drawing, but that changed in order to maintain Mr. Kawaguchi's style. I had a preconceived idea of what the character designs should look like, and I filled in the details as they progressed.

For a game this visually distinct, it wouldn't suffice to simply make a generic looking hero. We had to add something different based on the overall concept. We wanted the characters to have flaws, but appear charming at the same time.
