Gamespot UK posted an interview about the PC/PS2 game, Commandos 2.
Here’s a bit.

GameSpot UK: Why was the original game so popular?

Gonzalo Su�rez: It was a new-fashioned game already in the design stage. Even before we started on it, we decided it was to be something new. We managed to make a tactical game in which it was the user who could intuitively resolve situations. We used as support the licence and icons of World War Two, recognisable by everyone through hundreds of films and because of history itself. We gave it the appearance of a diorama, a scale model. Everything around it was strictly for the game. But undoubtedly the success was due to taking on the project in a mature way, methodically and working very hard.
