Q-Ball: Billiards Master
PS2 Preview by: Aaron "bearsfan" Thomas

There are many exciting genres that will be available when the Playstation2 launches this October. For those of you looking for a game that you sit back and relax to play, billiards might be a good alternative. In a testament to how strong and competitive the PS2's launch actually is, gamers will be able to choose from not one, but two billiards titles. One of these titles is Q-Ball Billiards Master, published by Take2 Interactive. This title was released in Japan as Cool Pool: Billiards Master, and received praise for its detailed graphics and realistic physics.

As any of you console pool-sharks know, a game of video game pool is nothing if the balls don't respond the way they should. Take2 has put much of their focus in this area, and promises unparalleled realism in this department. A variety of play modes will also be available to keep you entertained for many hours to come. Straight pool, US nine, Eight, International nine, Frozen, Rotation, and Free Play are seven reasons why you won't be getting bored by this title any time soon.

For those people who are new to console billiards, a lesson mode is available to teach you the tricks of the trade. Here you will learn the ins and outs of using the DualShock2 instead of that warped cue you use at the local bar. As you approach the skill level of Minnesota Fats, you might want to check your ranking on the "Top Ranked Players" board, to see who you've got to beat to reach the top spot.

With realistic graphics and even more realistic physics, this could be a good title to tide you over between those real-life visits to the local pool hall. Look for it on retailer's shelves October 26th, for a price of $49.99.
