E3 2002 - Part3
By: Aaron Thomas
Youve seen the games, the celebrities, and the booth babes, but now its time to take a look at some of the stuff you might not see on other sites. This is a collection of pictures that dont quite fit in with any particular category, but are still interesting. Enjoy!
Here is just a small portion of the line to see WWEs Stacy Kiebler. This line went out the door, and around the side of the building. I conned my way to the front of the line with my media badge and an autographed Mr. T boxing glove. She only signed for an hour, so many of these chumps went home empty handed.
As many can attest, E3 can and will kick your ass, let you back up, and then kick it again. This picture was taken only halfway through the second day, and as you can see, these guys are done for. Seats are at a premium at the show, and are always full of weary souls trying to rest up for a few minutes. If theres no seats around, people just sit on the floor wherever theres space.
This is part of the media room, where media can connect their laptops or use the computers provided by the show. Theres rarely a computer available however, so all of our coverage was done from the hotel. The room also had lockers, an area for press kits, and the media registration. It may not be much , but it was always a relatively quiet place where you could collect your thoughts for a while.
Fancy cars on display are nothing new at the show, and they are all over the place. Minority Report, James Bond, Hot Wheels, and more all had cars on the show floor for people to check out. This is Dale Earnhardt Jr.s car, and he was at the show to sign autographs and promote a game whos name I never found out.
Like cars, giant models representing game characters populate the convention center. Here you see me being stabbed by some shady Star Wars character that I dont know. He was in Microsofts booth, and very scary. Good thing Frank was able to console me in the dark hotel room. Eh nevermind.
Nothing odd about this picture, unless you count seeing me with a hot chick odd. This girl was hanging out in the upstairs hallway handing stuff out for some game that needed a hot chick to hand out promo materials, or else nobody would care about it. This of course doesnt work, as I have no recollection of the game whatsoever, but she was oh so hot.
Hopefully you enjoyed this glimpse of E3 and feel compelled to send me large sums of money. The coverage isnt finished yet, so check back later for more juicy stories.
