Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance review - Comments (1)

We added a review of Snow Blind Studios RPG:
Snow Blind Studios has done a magnificent job in bringing the D&D world of BG to a console. They have somehow practically maintained the high resolution visuals found in the PC counterpart. The environments have been streamlined to a sequence of sprawling multi-layered dungeons, linking passages and safe areas. Each area is brought to life in tight colourful and sharp visuals. It is clear that painstaking amount of attention has been made to transform a complicated PC title into a highly polished console experience. Character design is incredibly lifelike and smooth in all animations. Enemies throughout the game are highly detailed and sub-bosses and end bosses have sharp features. Couple this with beautiful special effects such as the spells and water which behaves like real water should.

We added a review of EAs latest basketball game:
The gameplay is nothing new. EA Sports has kept the same formula of circle to shoot, x to pass, R1 turbo and so forth. Therefore if you have played EA hoops games in the past, then the play mechanics will be very familiar. The ball physics have improved somewhat over previous incarnations of the game. If a shot is taken at a certain angle, then you can expect the ball to bounce off and hit the floor where it should physically.

Legends of Wrestling review - Comments (3)

We added a review of Acclaims Legends of Wrestling:
Acclaim has introduced a new style of gameplay to this genre with its ISP system. (Intermediate Start Position) This is where the key to success relies on button combinations in order to execute moves. Also one is able to take advantage of any situation, attack, reversal for example. There are timed meters as well that depend on whether a hold will take effect or if a reversal is in order. The ISP takes place when both wrestlers lock up and depending on which button is pressed, a move or set up hold takes place. it is up to the player to know their character's moves to guarantee victory. However with this unique system there is on drawback, the overall gameplay is slow!

Half-Life review - Comments (0)

We added a review of Sierra’s first-person shooter, Half-Life:
The environments have a variety of textures and design is tight. What really sets this game apart from other FPS titles is how the special effects bring the environments and action to a an all time high. Metallic and glass surfaces, translucent water, energy beams and forcefields that fade in and out are just a few examples. The character design, which was impressive on the PC, has been updated with four times the polygonal detail of the PC version. This includes retouched character textures, animation and facial expressions. What is really noticeable is the skeletal animation system which gives realistic movement. Even enemy design, animation and presence is delicious throughout the game.

Rez review - Comments (0)
Posted by @ 5:57 AM, EST
We added a review of Sega’s strange shooter:
The real joy in Rez is how Mizuguchi-san and his team have managed to amalgamate sound, vision and action into one comprehensive package, not to mention a viable storyline that makes sense for a change. Everything you do in the game corresponds directly to the soundtrack. Everything on the screen throbs to the bass sounds of one of the best trance soundtracks ever conceived for a videogame. As you fly through this 3D world, you shoot streams of energy at computer adversaries which in turn add electronic beats and rhythms to the soundscape. Additional rhythms are mixed throughout each stage to ensure things never sound alike.

Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarder review - Comments (0)
Posted by @ 5:57 AM, EST
We also added a review of Activision’s snowboarding game:
Where the THPS engine allowed players to roam relatively free and perform endless trick streams, Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarder takes on a more real-world approach. As a result, level goals become cumbersome and too frequently down right hard and borderline ridiculous. For example, if you miss a certain objective you must find a ski lift or abandoned snowmobile to take you back up the run.

Star Trek Voyager Elite Force review - Comments (0)
Posted by @ 7:41 AM, EST
We added a review of Pipedream Interactive’s first person shooter:
Unfortunately, Elite Force suffers in the control and gameplay department in addition to the poor visual presentation. Control is difficult at and times too fast considering the lapse in texture and polygon fill rate. Most games allow you to tweak the controls and Elite Force is no different. However, trying to tweak them to a suitable level is near impossible. Add to this some horrific load times and you have an experience that is broken into too many parts.
