Armored Core 2
PS2 Preview by Shawn Fogarty

The creators of Armored Core for the PSX, From Software, are preparing a sequel to the Mech robot shooter for the PS2. The setting for the game takes place 67 years after the original Armored Core. The planet Mars has been terraformed and almost half of Earth's population has moved there. Giant Corporations on mars holds the economic and political power. The three major corporations manufacture different types of Mechs: Zio Matrix is the most technologically advanced Corp that manufactures the most hi-tech Mechs but at a high price as well. Emeraude Corp produces Mechs at the best cost/performance ratio. The third Corp, Blitz, makes accessories and combines parts from the other two types of Mechs.
In AC2 there will be all new capabilities, more upgradable parts (14 to be exact).

The PSX AC only allowed a Mech to fire 8 missiles simultaneously but with the power of the PS2, over 30 missiles can be fired at a time.
Now you can really wreak some havoc on your opponents! Missiles can also lock onto other missiles so it may be possible to destroy a missile before it hits you.
This time around there will be a huge choice of Mechs to play with, each with it's own distinctive advantages/disadvantages like two legs, four legs, flight ability, agile or heavily armored. Some of the upgrades available to the Mechs include: head, core, arms (weapons), legs, generator, booster, back weapon 1, arm weapon left, arm weapon right and extension. Graphically, this game is nothing less than stunning. The Mechs are finely detailed from head to toe and sport ultra realistic reflections on their metallic bodies.

AC2 will be a two-player game for sure which is a huge plus but it is possible that a four-player mode may be implemented as well.
Hopefully there will be more info on this exciting game soon.
