Silent Hill 2
PS2 Preview by Shawn Fogarty

Are you ready for the horror thriller of a lifetime? Enter Silent Hill 2 by Konami, the makers of the original Silent Hill for PSX. It was a game that redefined the sense of horror and scared many gamers out of their wits while playing it. Now, Konami is set to put a dark chill over the land of PS2 and invade the deepest recesses of your mind, body and soul.

There is not much known concerning the specifics of the game but it will follow a similar structure to the gameplay of the previous Silent Hill. It seems like the first batch of information on this game is coming primarily from the haunting movie trailer which can be found at ps2.ign.com. The movie shows all FMV footage so there is no real-time gameplay scenes yet but they give us a clear indication of the frightening direction this game is headed (and I mean that in a good way).

Now if there is one thing that stands out in this game, it has got to be those sinister looking graphics. Everything has a washed out, dreary, gray and uncanny atmosphere. The perfect environment for a horror flick. In the movie trailer you see lots of fog and James, the lead character, fumbling with something as some kind of undead creature presses on slowly towards him!

I'm getting the impression that this may very well be one of the scariest games to grace the PS2 next Fall. This will certainly be one worth waiting for as we will no doubt see the PS2's Emotion Engine churning out some of the most horrific and creepiest graphics on the system.
