Game Notes:
Well Elway was right on in his prediction of this game, he said I would sweat it out in overtime, and I did (the sweating was actually towards the end of regulation). The game summary below, will tell the tale, of a great battle to the very end. Coming into this game, I knew it was going to be tough to walk away with a win. And if it wasn't for me winning BOTH coin flips, I probably wouldn't have won.
The cookie man came in with a great plan on defense. I wanted to run the ball with Dunn and Duckett all game long, but with him scoring first I had to alter my plan a little bit. I really didn't want to run Vick this game, but I had no choice after I seen the Defense I was up against. Many of Vicks runs were scrambles from sacks. Probably only 2 were actual Vick run plays, and 1 was blown up and he (Vick) took a sack. Cookie played well the whole game and I really thought I was going to lose when we went to OT.
Cookie did a good job explaining the game in his game summary, so I won't repeat what he has already said.
Except that, that tip Bradford caught and ran 79 yards to tie it up, was really unbelievable. I just knew it was over with all the momentum on your side after that play. My missed FG was with 3 seconds left, had I made it, it would of been game over. A simple chip shot, but I went full power and pushed it right. I was pretty upset when that happened. It only missed by the width of the football.
I did get a chuckle out of his poor little kicker trying to stop Rossum from running back the opening kickoff of OT. It was just like real life....kicker starts back peddling...does a three sixty and falls flat on his behind after get juked out of his pants. One juke was all it took to allow the high stepping to begin. Rossum busted it straight up the middle after squeezing through a very small opening and turned on the jets to win the game.
Cookie you played top notch football buddy, and you are really going to be one of the elite players in this league when you get a hold of a good team. Good luck the rest of the way.

Falcons came to play as a team and it showed. 3 ints returned for TD's a fumble recovered totaling 4 takeaways. The Rams never could get anything going. Up untill 5 mins left in the 4th quarter the Rams only had 6 total yards of offense. 79 total yards with 72 coming from KR's. The Falcons secondary confused Warner all day long. Game Notes:
Well two words sums up this whole game...REDZONE DEFENSE! The Redskins had 7 trips to the redzone and only walked away with 1 TD. Falcons Redzone scoring defense 14%
M22j said it best in his game notes. "2 plays won this game for the Falcons." Early in the first quarter the Redskins were inside the 10 yard line and were forced to kick a FG. The kick was good, but an offsides penalty gave the Skins a first and goal opportunity. The Falcons Defense stepped up and held the Skins out of the endzone and forced a turnover on downs. That set the stage for a great defensive performance.
The second key play in the game came when Matt Stewart intercepted a pass with the Skins in the Redzone threatning to score.
The shocker is that Doug Johnson came in close to the end of the first quarter and was almost perfect in his season debute. On his very first pass of the game, he completed a 72 yrd strike to B. Finneran.
D Johnson played all the way till about 2 mins into the fourth quarter and completed 72% of his passes and threw 2 tds.
M Vick then came back in and just worked the clock. This game was all Falcons D.

Game Notes:
Atlanta took control early on in this game, a couple of fumbles by the Panthers were converted into TD's early. The Falcons pretty much just took it straight to the Panthers with the run game. Vick played smart and never took a big hit when he scrambled, and finished with 81 yards on 10 att. Dunn had 73 yards on 14 att with a TD. Duckett added 39 more yards on the ground and was the short yardage back. Burlybear played good, but he was playing catch up the whole time and was forced to be one dimensional. With the Falcons gaining an early lead, we pretty much took the run game away from the Panthers. This allowed us to concentrate more on the pass. From a coaches view I was pretty happy with the way the Falcons played, but there is room for improvement.
Turnovers hurt the panthers all game long. An INT in the red zone, and the 2 fumbles early, help do the panthers in. The Falcons dominated time of possession 22:22 to 5:38. Ball control was key for the Falcons. Good luck the rest of the way Burlybear, and make your guys do some belly flops for those turnovers
