RB:Bettis 13 att 70 yards 1 TD
WRTE) Bruener 4rec 39 yards
Player of the game: I refuse to reward mediocrity.
Defense: I Think everyone of my defensive starters got at least one tackle. This is good in a special olympics kind of way. Great Job!
Game notes.
Moline will probably select Willie Green as the player of the game, 30 for 103 and a brace of TD's isn't anything to scoff at, but imho, the game was decided much earlier with Tim Couch's long balls and Kevin Johnson's soft hands. That broke the things open and the grind it out game I was hoping for was replaced by a passing oriented affair. After the half Mo did a good job of soaking up the time and generally spoiling my evening.
So, another home loss, even worse a division game, needless to say this pretty much borks my postseason aspirations. For the rest of the season, I'm going to concentrate on doing the opposite of whatever mvpelway thinks I'm going to do. Sorry to ruin your record dude, but for the love of Agnes, don't pick me to win another game. Seriously.
That about wraps things up sports fans it was a hard game to watch but I think valuable lessons were learned on both sides our backs were against the wall early on and even though it's a game of two halves it wasn't over until the fat lady started singing. I think it was a Beatles number, not one of the better ones, not Help! or Come Together.. It probably never even got released come to think of it, a filler track on one of the less successful albums, the track you don't worry about too much when the needle skips and scratches the record. Like taking off work on a nice day only to find all the beer is warm, then it starts to rain and you go to work anyway.
I think I'll finish on a quote.
"Everyone getting this so far? So what? I guess they just don't make them like they used to."*
Well said that man.

Player of the game: Bettis, had a nice game, kept the defense honest.
Game notes
Another one of those see-saw games I'm growing to loath (jk), good thing was I wasn't 20+ points down to start the second half
So basically a thoroughly good game. mvpelway can do a lot with his team, obviously Dillon is the catalyst. Just when you think it's safe to smother him the ball is going the opposite direction. Way to read a defense.
On my side of things we were able to do pretty much whatever we wanted, but never enough to push it over the top. Bettis took the lead in the early game, Kreider the fullback also had a fine game, emerging as a good passing threat from the backfield. Other receivers played a part too, plaxico had a magnificent 50 yard catch to enable the last score, and Bruener the TE took a 5 yarder for 25 more on a nice gainer.
The ball was dished similaraly on the rushing side too, Batch(!), Stewart, Zereoue and Kreider all took a turn important yards.
Stewart was injured again in the fourth quarter but Batch came off the pine to finish things up with a flourish.
Defense played well, SS Flowers having the most tackles, mostly because Dillon had already cut through the linebackers. of the linebackers Gildon had 6 tackles, 2 for a loss and 1 sack
3 field goals in the game, I don't think there were any misses.. No turnovers either, and this game was played in the wet stuff. go fig.

Player of the game: H Ward
Game notes:
Once again, a game of 2 halves, 21 points down early into the 2nd thanks to Kordell throwing a heat seeking brick and getting laid out for the game. Most of the team was injured at one stage or another. Bettis had some problems early on in the game, but probably could have picked it up in the second half, unfortunately by then the comeback effort had for outweighed the possibilities of niceties such as a running game.
Speaking of comebacks.. It was a well laid plan and for the most part, well executed, just a timely interception deep in the Jet red zone halted the Steelers from tying it up.
The plan was to use as many different receivers as possible with Ward leading the way, but basically saving him for the clutch plays. I'd give that plan a C, for crap.
a B for execution, but really... We all know it's not supposed to work like that.
In conclusion, well done the Jets good game. And I think I can use this experience to understand why NFL teams need a week off in between games. I was all for a 162 game schedule but 2 games in as many nights leaves me needing a couple days rest..
Maybe I'll try this MLB 2004 demo they stuffed in my mailbox..
Week 6 Results
Winning Team: Steelers
Losing Team: 49ers
Score: 24-7 Steelers
Player of the game: Gotta give it to Stewart, he was sharp
Total Offense: 310

Passing: 184
Passing: Stewart 15/23 197 yards 3TD 1Int
Rushing: Bettis 33 att 124 Yards
Receiving: Burres 4rec 64 yards 2 TD
Game Notes:
First off let me get this hoohaa over with.
Question of the Day: How did Tidus play?
Answer: He played straight. In general the ball was passed around nicely, momentum wise it was one sided and I sensed he might be getting a little frustrated with being shut out around the 4th quarter, but he kept it together and got a nice TD. If he had the ground game going it may well have been a different score.
And on the related Terrel owens note. he played terribly, in spite of several balls heading his way, he didn't have a catch until late in the game.
And how about the sterling play of those men in the black hats?
Very nice indeed, Mr Bettis recovered nicely from another early fumble to have a smashing game. The fans loved the backfield combination of Bettis and Zeroue (or was it Zeroue and Bettis?) and Kordell "The Yellow Dart" Stewart was on target in spite of some pressure.
The steelers were able to adjust to the blitz packages nicely and made some nice gains when the heat was on. The receivers apart from a few key drops played their part, mostly providing the third down options but also laid out some strikes to keep the secondary honest.
It was good to get out of Pittsburgh, I think the road trip will do us good, maybe even start a little winning streak here...
Week 5 Results
Winning Team: Raiders
Losing Team: Steelers
Final Score: 52-21 Raiders
Passing: K Stewart 19 of 33 256 yards 3 TD 1 int
Rushing: 14 att 37 yards
Receiving: Ward 8 rec 114 yards
player of the game & purple heart: Kordell stewart.
Game notes.
Where to start. Well hopefuly not in the same place as Mr Bettis who fumbled away the ball on the opening possession. Raiders only got a FG on that one... Stewart got off to a rough start.. Int return for TD...
I don't know if the Raiders Defence is good, or maybe one of my linemen got lost in the rain and fog on the way to the game, but they were able to cut through my line at will and tee off on the QB, seven sacks altogether, and thank the football gods for mobile quaterbacks because he probably avoided another ten. Whatever.. needless to say without an offensive line running was somewhat troublesome.
So much for home field advantage.

Game notes
This game was split right down the middle, Viper owned the first half, I had the second. He scored more points than me so I lost the game.
Fictional mpire was a little upset after the game, blathering on about how much Brad smells, but in the few moments of clarity he summed up the proceedings with some bloody awful poetry..

Week 3 Results
Winning team: Pittsburgh Steelers
Losing Team: Kansas City Chiefs
Score: 13-0 Steelers
Total Offense:239
Rushing Offense:128
Passing Offense: 111
QB:Kordell Stewart 8/19 (114 Yards) 1TD 1INT
RB:Sir Jerome of Bettis 31 Att (104 Yards)
WR: Hines Ward 5Rec (82 Yards)
Offensive Player: Jerome Bettis (He ain't heavy, he's my rusher)
Defensive Player: Dewayne Washington (2 Int)
Game Notes:
This game was steeler football through and through. Defense, Rushing, Yellow Towels, Defense, and clock management. A crowd of defenders surrounding Tony Gonzalez kept him mostly in check, and Priest Holmes was not permitted to move forwards. That about summed it up for the Chiefs, they came close a couple of times but a 3 Interception day by the defense kept the opposition in the cold.
The Pittsburgh receiving corps was clutch when it needed to be, and fairly sloppy at other times, but never let the Chiefs concentrate solely on Bettis. Zeroue chipped in with 23 yards, but the key to the game was definately the big man. After being bottled up for two weeks thanks to some of the best Rushing defense in the league it was good to give the ex-Ram some breathing space.
After the game Jerome could be seen wearing very dark glasses being pushed away in a wheelchair, but couldn't be reached for a quote.
Vapor played well, I never felt completely at ease in the lead, had the chance to score early on and failed, that kept the score close through much of the game. By the end of the fourth quarter the Chiefs were forced to throw on every down.
The game ended with Charlie Batch kneeling deep in the KC RedZone.

Game Notes
Where to begin...
Well props to Jiggs, that was a monster defensive showing, helped by a flourishing Offense and my Quarterback.
He set the tone early and kept the pressure up relentlessly, that basically shut down plans for running the ball and kept me on my heels. From then on what could go wrong did go wrong. Even ignoring the INT's it was horrendous. Tomlinson fumbles and the ball flops out several yards behind the line of scrimmage, my guys rush in but none of them land on the ball and LT picks it up and runs for a nice gain that about sums up the luck distribution.
Other than that things went swimmingly, all told the offensive stats were pretty even, I was able to adjust to the style of the Blue men and keep my guys moving forward.
Moving forward I have a lot to work on. I have a rigorous therapy schedule planned for Mr Stewart, the crux of which will be giving him a cooler nickname like "The Yellow Dart" and have him play video games for several hours.
WEEK 1
Winning Team: ST. Louis Rams
Losing Team: Pittsburgh Steelers
Final Score: 16-14 Rams
Game Notes: Steelers Offense
Total Offense: 263 Yards
Rushing Yards: 41 Yards
Passing Yards: 222 Yards
Kordell Stewart 10-25 1 TD
Plaxico Burress 7-217 1 TD
Bettis 11-17 1 TD
Well folks this was titanic. The Steelers actually had a chance to win this game with the ball inside the red zone as time ran out. With no timeouts left and some bungled signal calling it was too little too late.
The Rams defense was outstanding, Blanket coverage by Aneas Williams and a fast defenders around the line left no room for much of the Steeler offense, the only chink in their armor was at right corner, and Plaxico Burress was able to exploit that to the fullest.
Pat on the back to Angelo that was probably the best game I've played so far.
